The family of the boy who was allegedly beaten to death by his seniors at Dowen College have lamented the frustration they are experiencing in securing justice for the late pupil.

Recall that Sylvester Oromoni, a boarder at Dowen College was allegedly attacked by his seniors and consequently fell ill.

The family claimed the school told them that he fell down while playing football, but that the boy later confessed before he passed that it was not football, but his seniors who beat him.

The family have since been on the case trying to bring the alleged attackers to book without success.

A family member who initially broke the story on X, then Twitter, @perrisonoromoni has taken to the same platform to express the frustration of the family at getting justice for Sylvester.

He wrote: “2 years!!! 2 years of pain, anger, excruciating emotional torment and non-ending pursuit for justice. I have always known how corrupt and useless the Nigerian justice system is but I never imagined I’d experience it firsthand. This boys father was told in court by one of the accused uncle to forget about the case. Said they’ve got over a million dollars to fight and defend themselves till the world ends. An autopsy was carried out when sly died but was ordered to be done again in Lagos where not only was the result different, each of the families of the accused has their own pathologist present. We got to see how the Nigerian Bar Association tried to disrupt the case, how the judge called in sick almost every court date, how witnesses were intimidated and basically harassed by the army of lawyers of the 5 accused boys.

It is. It’s shocking what we witnessed. Some things happened I can’t even say here.

Dowen college moved on like nothing happened. Blogs and some influential figures were bought and to crown it all its now headed towards “ lack of substantial evidence”. It’s not over until justice prevails. Believe that.

2 years without my boy tomorrow 💔 #Justiceforsylvester”
