Residents scoop fuel in tanker accident on Long Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
Motorists held up
There was an accident involving a tanker bearing kerosene on the Long Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.
The cause of the accident is not certain at the time of filing this report.
An eye-witness told Microsecondnews that the tanker was lying on its side with kerosene still pouring out of it around 6:30 am when she passed.
The eye-witness said some motorists grabbed empty kegs and plastic buckets to collect some of the diesel wasting away.
The accident caused a complete standstill on the Ibadan-bound part of the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as vehicular traffic was halted to prevent a fire incident.
Another tanker was later brought to transload the remaining kerosene.
FRSC officials were on ground to supervise the process.
