A video of a man being tortured and interrogated about the theft of a motorcycle somewhere in the eastern part of the country is causing outrage online.
The video shows the man running away from a raging fire and repeating that he knows nothing about the theft.
As he jumps out of the enclosure where the fire is burning, he is flogged by a member of the local security team and questioned repeatedly about the said theft.
The vigilante men said a thief-identifying ‘juju’ implicated him as knowing something about the theft.
The suspect continues to deny the theft. He only admits to knowing some men mentioned by those questioning him. Apparently, those men are believed to know something about the theft.
Vigilante man: “Do you know Udodili’s place?”
Suspect: “ I don’t know Udodili’s place, I swear.”
Vigilante man: “Do you know anything concerning this machine?”
Suspect: “I don’t know anything concerning any machine. You can take me anywhere to swear.”
The man was not lynched in the duration of the video.
Reactions to the video have been massive, with most people condemning what they called ‘barbaric display’ in the video.
