Man posing as DISCO official apprehended while trying to raid a private residence in Lagos
A robber who disguised himself as an electricity distribution company official in an attempt to gain access into a compound has been apprehended in Lagos.
The wife of the owner of the house the suspected robber targeted took to social media to expose the incident so that other Nigerians can take heed.
According to her, the man wore the overall typically worn by DISCO staff, complete with a helmet and asked to be let into the compound so he could check the meter.
The woman said her husband was at home and came out to interogate the man, inquiring why there was no other official with him. He reportedly said his colleagues were coming, but that he would like to enter the compound and be working before they arrived.
The homeowners were lucky that their meter was located outside the premises, and so when he told them he wanted to see their meter, they pointed it to him and asked him to go and be working on it.
They soon realised he did not know what he was doing and raised alarm. When his bag was searched, they a machete and three hammers in it.
He was immediately apprehended by the street residents.
The wife of the landlord wrote on Facebook: “Good afternoon everyone, and my fellow dear Nigerians, this is to bring to your notice that something horrific almost happened today in my estate but we thank God they didn’t succeed. This person in the picture/video who claims to be a NEPA official dressed in NEPA regalia and all claiming to be one of them, that his colleagues were somewhere working that they are coming to join him. So my husband then asked him if you say you are NEPA then do your job, thats the meter he said no that he wants to come thru my living room.
my hubby said how can you? you don’t have right to come into my living room because u want to check meter that’s the meter do your job precise where is your ladder. How can you be going to farm without cutlass. While he was insisting on coming through my living room,we started suspecting. That was how we raised an alarm. With the help of my husband and the security men on duty, this so called NEPA man have cutlass and hammers not one but 3 in his bag after he was apprehended… guys pls let’s be vigilant…this idiots are back on the streets again. May they not find us. hmmm. I decided to share this so everyone can stay vigilant and be-carefu…i bless the name of the lord that my hubby and i were home, Not just my sister and the kids alone…don’t know what would have become of me by now May God be praised”
