A woman is lucky to be alive after a commercial bus, popularly called ‘danfo’, hit a commercial motorcycle she was travelling on.

The woman was on the motorcycle approaching the busy Arepo Bus Stop when the danfo experienced a mechanical fault that forced the driver to swerve off the expressway without checking if his side was free of traffic.

In the process, the okada collided with the bus and the okada operator and his passenger, a middle aged woman fell on the tarmac, narrowly missing being crushed by the rear tyre of the bus.

The incident happened on Saturday about 2:30 pm.

The woman who was injured and could not immediately stand up created a scene when the driver of the bus came over to check up on her.

She suddenly grabbed him in annoyance, accusing him of trying to kill her.

The conductor protested that he was not the bus driver and only came to sympathise with her and assess the level of injury.

The conductor was saved by other sympathisers who asked the woman to thank God that she was not dead.

Some sympathisers advised her to shun okada on the expressway now that the road is free of hold-ups and go-slows.

The woman and the okada operator were still sitting on the kerb, awaiting arrangements to be taken to the hospital for a comprehensive checkup and treatment when our reporter left the scene.
