A video has been uploaded to seek justice for a woman severely beaten by a group of policemen in Anambra State.
She was seen being kicked and slapped around, while a man can be heard saying, “This thing you are doing, e no good o (What you are doing is not good)
The sister-in-law of the victim posted the video on X (Twitter) asking the public to help with getting justice.
The poster, @bennynenny042 wrote: “Nobody is safe again in Nigeria. See what police officers did to my sister-in-law in Anambra State because of security fees. Please, tag the right authorities. 😭🙏🙏🙏🙏”
A second woman can be seen in the video being slapped and pushed around.
In a follow-up tweet, she explained that her sister-in-law had actually paid the money to their compound’s chairman.
She further explained that the money was used to pay the local vigilante group, which looked after their area to keep it safe.
It appears the vigilante complained to the police that some people were not paying their dues and a team of officers visited the compound.
It remains unknown what led to the confrontation and the resultant manhandling of the women by the police officers.
