Three people were rescued from a salon car squashed by a 40-feet container that fell on it around Stadium on Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere, Lagos this morning, September 25.

It happened in the early Monday morning rush.

In a tweet, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) disclosed that their official, Traffic Officer Olajide Olukoga ‘ led the rescue operations at the accident scene.

Olukoga confirmed that a 40ft container fell on top of a Toyota Corolla car (JJJ 811 FB) from the top of the Ojuelegba Bridge.

“He confirmed further that out of those 3 casualties rescued from the Toyota Corolla salon car, only one (male) came out unhurt and was allowed to go immediately.

The remaining 2 rescued casualties (an adult male and a female) were rushed to hospital. Policemen from the Surulere Police Division were on the scene to provide adequate security.

While the entire Ojuelegba Bridge inwards Stadium was temporarily closed and traffic diverted to the service lane.”

Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing, according to the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA. Adebayo Taofiq.
