OAP, Dotun

Media personality, Do2dtun, who was among the anchors of the procession for the singer, Mohbad, has criticized the procession members who were tear-gassed by the police on Thursday night.

Recalled that some members of the procession refused to go home after the procession and allegedly reconverged at the Lekki Toll Gate after some stars such as Davido, Do2dtun and other Falz appealed to the massive crowd to go quietly back to their homes.

Clips also show some policemen later appealing to the crowd to disperse and go home. It appears the appeals fell on deaf ears, prompting the police to fire tear gas into their midst.

In the ensuing stampede, some people were injured. A clip shows a man with a huge laceration on his leg. See the video below.

He took to his Twitter handle to write;

“Honesty over Honesty Nigerians do not listen. WE DO THE MOST. This procession ended at Muri Okunola Park over 3 hours ago. We ended and all left. Some still went to converge at the Lekki toll gate. It is not a protest. It is a CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION”

Opinions were divided on his take. While some supported him, some others blasted him for supporting the police in their brutality.

Some reactions.

@SavvyRinu: “So that gives the police the right to brutalize and teargas people? Is that what we are saying?”

@MakeleleJersey: “God bless you, if we talk, then go attack… emotion apart, this one na overdo.”

@bigmich__: “Two wrongs won’t make a right, there are better ways to disperse the ground without shooting.”

@GB_SkyHigh: “You all should continue supporting the oppressors. Just wait let the autopsy results are out and you will see the police you support over your own people.”

@LakeSid55209660: “Lol, is a that enough reason to justify their act?”
