Actress Iyabo Ojo visits Marlian Music ex-signee, DJ Splash who ran mad in Naira Marley’s house
Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has paid a visit to the family of Mathew Aderoju, better known as DJ Splash, an ex-signee of Marlian Music, who ran mad while living with Naira Marley in Lekki, Lagos.
Mathew Aderoju’s mother told the actress and her entourage that she had been in emotional turmoil since her son was pushed out of Naira Marley’s house after he started behaving erratically.
According to her, the boy was brilliant in school but had to learn a trade to earn some money to further his education.
She said the boy loved music and took part in a competition organized by DJ Consequence in 2020. According to her, he won the competition and collected the grand prize of N100,000.
From the fame he got at the competition, he was picked up by Zlatan from where Naira Marley saw him and called his mother to allow him to be his in-house DJ.
The mother said she told him her plan was for him to gather some money and return to school because he was a brilliant boy and she could not finance his education together with his siblings alone. Their father is dead.
She said Naira Marley promised to support the boy through school and she released DJ Splash to him.
She said that was when her problem started, as she found that many times she would not be able to reach her son on the phone except he called.
According to her, the son called her one day and asked her to come over to pick him, and that she should not trust anyone or whatever they say to her, but to insist on taking him out of the house.
By the time she got to the street where Naira Marley lived, she said she already found her son outside behaving erratically.
She said she had spent lots of money on the boy, going from one hospital to another. According to her, it got so bad that she had to chain him down, because he attempted to jump into a well, and would sometimes stray out of the house and be taking e-hailing cabs on joy-rides without having any money to pay.
She said he came home by Uber once and the bill was N20,000, which she had to borrow from neighbours to pay before the driver could leave him alone.
The mother said she had received no support from any other person except Wizkid’s producer who sent her money whenever she had no other person to turn to.
She said her attempts to link up with Naira Marley were frustrated by his mother who told her he was not around on several occasions.
