A Ugandan woman, Annah Awujo, who recently divorced her husband to marry another man has been killed by the new husband just six months into the marriage.
Annah Awujo is believed to have been murdered by her husband, Arorwa Otube shortly after she returned from a relative’s funeral.
Neighbours said their union was characterised by constant argument and spates of domestic abuse.
It was reported that the husband accused the wife of infidelity, which escalated to a heated argument very rapidly.
The incensed husband reportedly murdered his wife in the course of the altercation and fled the home.
“When she returned, they had a bitter exchange. The cause of the murder is believed to be an accusation of infidelity. Domestic violence dominated throughout the period they were together,” said Immaculate Alaso, a police spokesperson in Uganda’s Bukedi North.
