A South African man took his mother along to propose to the love of his life but received the shock of his life when the girlfriend refused to say yes.
A video posted on TikTok by @bossstarn showed the man arriving at the proposal location with a bouquet of flowers.
He had apparently arranged with the friend of the lady to bring her into a busy restaurant where he had confetti spread on the aisle, with part of it forming the love sign.
The lady was brought in blindfolded. When the blindfold was removed she could see her man on a bended knee, with a bouquet of flowers and an engagement ring.
The lady accepted the flowers but declined to accept the ring.
Her friend tried to save the situation, but the lady remained resolute and later walked out rather than accept the ring.
The man was later filmed sitting on one of the restaurant’s chairs with his head bowed.
Many commenters believed that the lady should have accepted the ring if only for the sake of his mother whom he brought along to the the restaurant. They argued that she could have broken off the engagement secretly later.
