Former Adamawa civil servant arrested for allegedly killing his wife for denying him intimacy
The police in Adamawa State have apprehended a former staff of Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Aminu Mahdi, 63, for allegedly beating his 43-year-old wife, Hadiza Zubuchi, to death.
When interrogated, the suspect who hails from Yelwa ward in Mubi North Local government area, said that he returned home at 9:00 pm on the 27th August, 2023 and after he ate his meal and changed his clothes, he went to sleep, but his late wife denied him access to her bed.
He said that the deceased prevented him from sleeping on her bed and allegedly started beating him with a stick. The suspect said he eventually snatched the stick from her and beat her up on her buttocks and chest, which led to her death.
While regretting his action, Aminu Mahdi said:
“I didn’t expect that this kind of incident would happen to me. It was a mistake.”
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola had ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to carry out a thorough investigation and prosecute the suspect afterwards.
