‘I beg you, please, make noise’, Ousted Gabon president calls on international community over coup (Video)
The ousted President Ali Bongo of Gabon has taken to social media to call on all ‘international friends’ to make noise on his behalf.
Bongo was placed under house arrest this morning after he was ousted by the country’s military leaders.
He had just been declared the winner of the just concluded presidential election of his country by the electoral umpire.
But the military broadcast to the nation this morning that the civil rule was being suspended in order to save the country.
They restricted the president to his residence and detained his son for treason.
In a video clip that is now trending, Bongo who sat inside a grand room complete with wood-panelled walls, ornate carpets and leather-bound books, called on the international community to ‘make noise’.
He said he did not know where his son was and had not seen his wife too, as she was put in ‘another place’.
“Nothing is happening here. I don’t know what is happening (outside),” he said.
BBC said it had reached out to the president’s communication team who confirmed that the video is genuine.
