A trending video has shown the moment young men armed with sophisticated weapons attacked a team security men at Scotiabank in Mandeville, Jamaica on Friday.
The video footage showed the men shooting sporadically at their targets, believed to be the security team of the bank.
One of the robbers soon emerged with a bag believed to contain money. A second member of the gang also emerged with another bag.
The two bags were hauled into a waiting getaway car and the robbers zoomed away.
A woman who identified herself as Alice told Observer Online that her niece was shot in the leg while waiting in line at the Scotiabank automated banking machine (ABM) to withdraw cash on her payday.
Sources estimated that at least four men were involved in the robbery.
The police later announced that they had arrested a suspect in connection with the Friday’s robbery of a Beryllium Limited’s security team at a Scotiabank in Mandeville, Manchester.
According to police, the suspect was travelling in a black Toyota Wish motorcar which was intercepted about 1:30 am on Saturday.
The vehicle was intercepted along the Four Paths Main Road in Clarendon in the vicinity of Sunset Boulevard .
One 9mm magazine, one M16, two AK 47 rounds and a ski mask were reportedly recovered from the vehicle.
It is understood that the vehicle, which bore mismatched registration plates, belongs to man of a Portmore, St Catherine address.
It was also gathered that a former Beryllium security guard and two bank employees are being questioned in connection with the heist.
A total of five bystanders were injured during the Friday afternoon’s attack on the bank.
