‘You’ll still be prosecuted’ – Police commissioner tells Tiktokers who ‘tortured’ woman in prank to gain followers
The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani has insisted on trying the three Tiktokers arrested in connection with the beating, stripping and shaving of a woman in a video that went viral recently.
The trio of Obed Chekwube Ugwuanyi, also known as MC Sharp (male, 32 years old), Chinenye Agbo, known as Star Ella Ada (female, 26 years old), and Anastasia Onu (female, 26 years old), were arrested in connection with the assault of Chinenye.
Together with others yet to be apprehended, they were captured in the video subjecting Chinenye to inhuman treatment.
Chinenye was beaten, stripped, and shaven for allegedly attacking Anastasia, who is Obed’s girlfriend.
The video caused outrage and the police got involved as people called for justice for Chinenye.
Upon their arrest, the trio told the police that they staged the act as a prank meant to help them gain followers on social media.
A statement by the police spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, noted that:
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the trio are, however, claiming that the video, which has generated public outcry and condemnation due to the inconceivable assault, inhuman and degrading treatments meted out on Chinenye as seen in the video, is a prank and meant to garner followers on their social media accounts.
Ndukwe added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, while condemning the act, has ordered the State CID Enugu to thoroughly investigate and prosecute those found culpable, to serve as a deterrent to anyone who may want to perpetrate such an act under the guise of prank.
