Security men arrest ‘fuel robbers’ (Video)
A high cost of fuel has created another type of hoodlums called ‘fuel robbers. A trending video showed the moment two of such outlaws were arrested by security men in Delta State.
According to the security official who recorded the men, the two hefty boys had a habit of going around filling stations and robbing them of fuel.
Armed with machetes and iron rods, they coerced fuel attendants to fill empty kegs they carried in their tricycles, sometimes totalling 200 litres, according to the security man.
They used the flat part of the machete to beat any attendant who showed reluctance to comply with their directives.
According to the man, they had raided at least 15 filling stations at various times before they were confronted by some young community members who overpowered them and were about to lynch them before a group of soldiers on patrol arrived to save them.
They never asked for money, jewels, wrist watch or any other valuables. They were only interested in fuel.
They told the security men that they usually sold the fuel to a woman at the rate of N500 per litre. The security officials said they were on their way to arrest the buyer of the stolen fuel.
