Victim of one-chance robbery at VI, Lagos claims police want N70k to track her phone
A Nigerian lady, Esther Chuks, has narrated how she was robbed by a private car owner who disguised as a ‘kabu-kabu’ (private cars used as commercial cars) in Victoria Island, Lagos.
In a series of tweets, Esther said it happened on Sunday morning, July 16, at Idejo Street off Adeola Odeku Street in Victoria Island.
She said the private car owner pulled over as though he was a commercial car and that she heard him call her destination and so she hopped in. She said the criminal began to talk to her nicely until he pulled over, and assaulted her before stealing from her iPhone and wiring all her money from her bank account. She alleged that the police are demanding N 70, 000 to help her track her phone.

“This man changed the nice person he was and having conversations with that I was even forcing myself to communicate with him and he pulled up a new knife and claim to be a ritualist, showed me sprays and was telling me what those sprays are for, then he pulled up.
“A leather type of rope and was asking if I know what that is, I said I don’t know. He then ask me how much do I have to save my life right now, I told him I have little compare to my life.. then he asked what did I want him to do immediately I said …
“He should drop me here, the next thing I saw was stars in my eyes, this man have landed me one hot slap and was saying I am ungrateful, In my head I was thinking ungrateful how.. the next one he gave me another slap ah I shouted sir please just take all my money and let me go
“The man said he want to teach me a lesson, he was slapping me and telling me to repeat after him, he will slap me and tell me never entered a private car, I will repeat after him, with another slap he said never trust any body I was repeating after him.
“Immediately this man said I should give him my phone he want to confirm the money in my account then he held the phone, few seconds he says he want to pee that do i trust him enough to let him pee… emi Omo so that I will not receive another slaps from this maniac
“I said yes sir, immediately he was peeing I had to jump out of the car, He didn’t see that coming and thank God there was a dispatch rider coming and that was how he zoomed off and the rider carried me back to where he picked me from.
“This man immediately I escape from his car he changed my Apple ID password turned of my Find My iPhone..
