A young man, simply identified as Chima, has been allegedly murdered by their family houseboy in Awka, the capital city of Anambra State.
Only the two were in the room when the incident happened, so the only account available of what transpired was given by the househelp.
He claimed his master queried him on why he did not do his chores, adding that when he did not provide a satisfactory answer, he slapped him.
The suspect said he fought back and resorted to using a pestle on his boss who slumped after being savagely hit.
The househelp, who is estimated to be about 17 years of age, told the security men who apprehended him that he had no ulterior motive for killing his boss.
However, other sources said that apart from hitting his boss with a pestle, he also used a knife on him while he lay helpless on the ground, which might suggest he was deliberate about the action.
The househelp, who is said to be from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has since been handed over to the Nigerian Police Force, Awka division, for further questioning and prosecution.
The body of his boss has been deposited in the morgue for autopsy.
