Texas hotel invites police to shut down Mbaise community event in one of their halls (video)

The management of a Texas hotel in the United States of America reportedly invited the police to shut down a cultural event held by Nigerians from Mbaise community, which was taking place in one of their halls.

A man was heard in the background saying that they paid for the hall and the management of Westin Hotel at Irvine, Texas, waited till the event started, to invite the police to shut it down.

Mbaise people hold their annual convention in Dallas, Texas. This was the 14th edition and drew a mammoth crowd of Mbaise personalities.

A tweep, @Johnsonume1, took to Twitter to break the news of police men invading the convention.

He wrote: “This is embarrassing situation for the people of Mbaise and Nigeria as a whole. The manager of Westin Hotel Irvine, Texas just shut down an Mbaise convention (while) the event is ongoing.. Ndi igbo go home and build your country you can do it. You’re being humiliated”

He posted a picture of policemen taking strategic positions within the hall where the event was holding.

Information gathered elsewhere online indicated that it was a four-day event and the other days happened without an incident.

“Starting on Thursday July 6th, the event had heavy weight Mbaise chieftains like Chief S.O S Echendu, Chief Dr, Charles Iwejuo, Ezeji (Chief) Alozie Aguwa, Hon Chidi Ahaghotu, Chief Mrs Ngozi Mbaocha, Chief Festus Anaele and many more in attendance’ wrote one of the attendees on Nairaland.

“It was a gathering of intellectuals, high profile personalities, seasoned professionals,academicians,entrepreneurs, political emersaries, invited foreigners, celebrities  and Mbaise lovers from around the globe.

Decorations, Music, food and drinks,  lights and cameras adored the venue which was set like a presidential mini rally,” he wrote.
