Armed men believed to be kidnappers have abducted a businesswoman identified as Mrs Onyi Ugba at Okija Street, in the Mile 2 axis of Diobu in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

The abduction happened in broad daylight about 6:40 pm on Friday when the hoodlums numbering about five stormed the victim’s store located at Umuoji junction/Okija Street.

It was gathered that the hoodlums first asked for all the money made that day.

The visibly shaken businesswoman staggered and brought some cash which she gave them, but the reaction from the miscreants shows dissatisfaction.

A source in the area told the Punch that the gunmen were angry when the woman could not provide enough money. This made the criminals resort to kidnapping her.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident, saying an investigation was ongoing.

“Yes, we are aware of the incident and an investigation is ongoing to ensure the woman is rescued early.

“Not just to rescue her, our men have begun a search to apprehend the suspects and make them face the law,” Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police stated.

Recall that in December 2022 hoodlums robbed Mrs Ugba of some unspecified sum of money when they stormed her Store at the same location.

The incident was reported to the Mile 1 Police Division, but the suspects are yet to be arrested before the latest incident on Friday.
