A 200-level student of the Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State, Mark Sagarga, has been killed by unknown assailants.
The 20-year-old Biological Sciences student who lived off campus was stabbed to death on his way back home on Thursday night, June 15, 2023.
His body was found in the early hours of Friday, close to the compound where he resided in Wukari town, a short distance from the main gate of the university.
SUG Secretary General of the university, Comrade Linus Mary Samuel, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, said the assailants also made away with the deceased’s mobile phone
“FEDERAL UNIVERSITY WUKARI MOURN. In the early hours of today Friday 16th July, 2023 around 4am at the SUG Lodge, we received a terrifying call, informing us of a student lying on the ground off campus,” the statement read.
“My president, Right comrade Darlington Musa, the SUG President Federal University Wukari, and myself hurriedly called the School Security, Dean Of Student affairs to intimate them about the development, while we drove on the SUG Car to the scene a ‘Student Villa off campus close to the main gate of the school.
“On reaching there we found in a pool of blood a lifeless body of a student who is later identified as Mark Sagarga. A 200 Level student of Biological science Federal University Wukari.
Mark was stabbed to death by unknown hoodlums at late hours of last night while he was returning home, who also carted away with his phone. The first time we’re witnessing this heinous act to humanity in the history of our revered institution.
“Together with the school security, the police, and the Dean we took Mark’s body to the General Hospital Wukari where he was certified dead by the Doctor in charge, and his body was embalm in the mortuary
“While the SUG Body commiserates with Mark’s immediate family, the university community and the entire Federal University Wukari students for this huge loss to us all, we assure you that the perpetrators of this heinous act will not go unpunished.
“We shall do all within our reach to make sure they are brought to book, and made to face the full wrath of the law. Adieu Mark!”
