This lie is irritating-lawyer Inibehe Effiong reacts to reports of Tinubu traveling to Europe on working visit
Popular Nigerian lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has faulted reports that the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, has embarked on a working visit to Europe.
Bayo Onanuga who is a media aide to Tinubu posted the statement announcing Tinubu’s travel on his Twitter handle.
Reacting, Inibehe said claims that Tinubu was heading on a working visit is false as he lacks the constitutional powers to embark on such trips.
Inibehe described the claim as a lie that is ‘’unnecessary and irritating”.

“A working visit” presupposes that he is acting in an official capacity. He cannot do that without subscribing to the oath of office and oath of allegiance as stated in the Constitution. He must also declare his assets before he can perform the functions of the office.
A President-elect cannot embark on a working visit abroad.
Stop making nonsense of whatever is left of this country.
A working visit presupposes that he is acting in an official capacity. If so, that’s legally unfounded.
Section 140 (1) of the 1999 Constitution provides thus:
“A person elected to the office of President shall not begin to perform the functions of that office until he has declared his assets and liabilities as prescribed in this Constitution and he has taken and subscribed the Oath of Allegiance and the oath of office…prescribed in the Seventh Schedule to this Constitution.”

Tinubu could have travelled out to avoid testifying under cross examination as he is too sick and handicapped in his ability to respond to questions. Understanding that he is incapacitated, Asiwaju muscled his way militarily by spilling blood, assaulting voters, paying bribes and manufacturing and stealing votes to be declared winner. Now he is running and hoping to be sworn in. This man is dangerous and no one should be sworn in based on an election that has not been concluded.
