Lagos CP Orders Area Commander to take over case of sexual molestation of married woman at Ladipo market

Omolara claimed the wealthy spare parts dealer asked her to name her price for him to play with her breasts

The Lagos Police Commissioner has directed the Area Commander to take over the case of a married woman who was allegedly sexually molested by a popular spare parts dealer in Ladipo Market, Lagos.

Recall that Microsecondnews published the story of the woman who initially said she was accosted by a wealthy spare parts dealer who asked her to name her price for him to play with her breasts.

In the initial video, she said she took an offence at the comment by the dealer and told him she was married, but this did not stop the man from pestering her further.

When she resorted to insulting the man, he allegedly ordered his boys to beat her up, but this later degenerated into a melee as people in the neighbourhood supported her against the dealer and protested what they called consistent harassment of women by some elements in the market.

The dealer reportedly called policemen who later tried to harass the married woman. She said she resorted to the social media so that people could come to her aid.

However, matters took a new twist when she posted another video recanting what she said in her earlier video. In the new video, she said the man did not molest her physically, but that it was his boys that slapped and rough handled her.

She claimed that all the allegations she made in the first video was as a result of anger and she apologised to the dealer.

But many netizens could read between the line and submitted that she was intimidated and therefore made the second video under duress.

Someone came up with a video of the lady being aggressively questioned by the police at their station without a lawyer or anyone to support her. The video was forwarded to the spokesperson of the Lagos Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Ben Hundeyin.

Olalekan Paul @lekanpaul wrote:

“Oga Ben, this was when she was invited to d station and was told to go do a damage control. If you investigate well, she made the video you posted under intimidation. Also, tone of investigating officer is unfriendly & a sign of intimidation and harassment.”

SP Benjamin Hundeyin has now responded with a new tweet:

“In view of emerging facts, @LagosPoliceNG Commissioner of Police has directed the Area Commander in that axis to immediately takeover the case from the Police Division and do a thorough review of the entire investigation.

Justice must not be miscarried!”, he wrote.
