Nollywood actor and contestant in the forthcoming Lagos State House of Assembly elections, Desmond Elliot, is currently trending on Twitter after he announced the procurement of brand new transformers for his constituents about a week to the elections.
The actor-turned politician took to his page to announce that he has installed brand new high-capacity transformers in his constituency, Surulere so as to give electricity to people who have been deprived of light for years.
The recipients of the transformers delivered by Desmond Elliot include Somade Crescent, Main street, Clegg street, James Robertson, Akerele, Martins Street, and Tafawa Balewa.
He wrote:
“I am excited to announce that new high-capacity transformers have been installed in Surulere, bringing reliable electricity to communities that have long needed it. The new transformers include:
Somade Crescent; Methodist Church by Small London; 300Kva
Main Street between Barracks and Tejuosho; 500Kva
Clegg Street, Inside Fire Brigade, 500Kva
James Robertson Junction; 500Kva
Akerele by Havana Hospital; 500Kva
Martins Street; 500Kva
Oke-Ona/Ladele Dada/Alawode Transformer; 500Kva (Surulere 2)
Tafawa Balewa Crescent; 500Kva”.
The announcement is being given a negative twist on Twitter as many wondered why it took him so long to realize he needed to procure transformers for his constituents.
Some are linking the largesse to the threat from Labour Party.
A tweep, Nerfertiti wrote: “While Sanwo-Olu has suddenly become a Father Christmas, Desmond Elliot decided to give his constituency a transformer (1 week) to election. Peter Obi is forcing their hands to do what they should have done since 2015/2019. Can we agree that Nigerian politicians belong in Hell?”
OgheneFejiro: “Funny thing about these actions is that it shows the people how wicked they truly are, giving more reasons to kick them out!”
@BlessedEzehVic: “Imagine! Why now? Eliot is an hypocrite. Eliot is going home. We are done with his cruelty & hypocrisy. No amount of 11th-hour gift can retain him. We will vote LP”
