Naira crisis: Protesters block Benin-Ore-Lagos highway, disrupt traffic in parts of Lagos (video)
Protesting Nigerians blocked the Benin-Ore-Lagos highway in Odigbo Local Government area over the scarcity of new naira notes.
Travellers were held up on the same spot for hours as the protesters put different obstructions on the highway to prevent movement of vehicles.
In many parts of Lagos, there were riots and disruption of businesses as protesters took to the street over the lack of access to their funds.
A clip shows bonfires in the middle of the road at Oke Koto, Agege. At Oke Odo, the popular market there was hurriedly shut when hoodlums began to protest.
Traffic was also disrupted in Ibafo and Mowe and some youths blocked the expressway for some time before the security forces arrived to disperse them.
