Man, who disguised as woman to marry in church, dies days before ‘her’ wedding in Port Harcourt (Photos)
A Nigerian who successfully fooled a Catholic Church into believing he was a woman has died only a few days before he was to be married to a man in the same church.
Emmanuelle Adaolisa was an active member of the choir of the St. John’s Catholic Church, Rumuolumini, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and was to be wedded to ‘her’ lover when the tricycle ‘she’ was traveling in was involved in an accident that claimed ‘her’ life.
It was when they were preparing ‘her’ body for mortuary by attendants that the fact emerged that the victim who dressed like a woman, was in fact a man.
The confused fellow church members and friends were then forced to dig into the chorister’s background to understand what was happening and they unfolded the mystery behind the incident.
They found that Emmanuelle Adaolisa was a man named Ogoegbunam Emmanuel Nwolisa, with the Facebook username Itz Emmanuel Nwolisa.
Sometime in 2021, he stopped posting on his Facebook account and created a new identity of a female.
He relocated to Port Harcourt where he established himself as an attractive, bubbly young woman.
Emmanuel who trained as a pharmacist changed his name to Emmanuelle Adaolisa and completely fooled his neighbours and everyone he came into contact with into believing he was a woman.
He joined a Catholic Church where he became an active member of the choir and participated actively in church activities as a woman.
He took many young ladies under his wings and thought them Lithurgical Dance, because he was said to be a very good dancer.
It was also gathered that the church received her news of wanting to get married with excitement and rallied around ‘her’.
She was said to have successfully held ‘her’ traditional marriage rites with a man, and also attended the marriage course in the Catholic Church ahead of a formal church wedding.
However, Emmanuel was going home after a church programme when he reportedly got involved in an accident and died instantly.
He was taken to the mortuary on Saturday, Feb. 4, where it was discovered that the body was male.
Emmanuel’s friends have since come out to say that while he was no doubt a man, he possessed feminine traits and he decided to transition into a female.
They said he loved to dance like a woman, and sang in a high-pitched voice like a woman making it hard for those who knew him as a woman to suspect a thing.
It was further gathered that the fiancé claimed that he never suspected that Emmanuelle was a man.
Meanwhile tributes have poured in for the late devoted chorister. See some below
