Neither did we arrest the governor

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied reports of invading the head office of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Abuja on Monday.

DSS spokesman, Dr Peter Afunanya said in a terse statement on Monday, January 16, that the report was misleading.

He did not however say if the personnel of the security service were at CBN for any reason.

His statement simply reads:

“The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to the false news making the round that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its Governor, today 16/1/23. This is fake news and quite misleading.”

Meanwhile, the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, has resumed work after his annual vacation outside the country.
