Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Demola Seriki, has died at the age of 63.
A statement, signed by his children, said the Lagos politician and former minister passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in Madrid, Spain.
“It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude to Almighty Allah that we announce the loss of our much loved and admired patriarch, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, His Excellency, Ambassador Ademola Rasaq Atanda Seriki (CON) on December 15th, 2022, the statement reads.
“He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Madrid, Spain.”
Seriki was a strong ally of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
Seriki was appointed a minister on the platform of the then-ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He, however, defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN one of the parties which formed the ruling APC after losing the governorship ticket of the party for 2011 general election in Lagos to Dr Ade Dosunmu.
