Bus driver pummels passenger for buying snack after claiming to have no cash to complete fare (Video)
A bus driver in Ghana has been filmed pummeling a passenger he gave a discount of Ghc 1 after he pleaded that he did not have enough cash only for him to buy a beverage from a roadside vendor.
MSN learnt that tension has risen among drivers and passengers recently in Ghana following the hike in fuel and transport fares.
In this instance, the passenger reportedly boarded the bus, locally called trotro and was supposed to pay Gh8.50 as fare.
But he reportedly told the trotro driver he was not aware of the Gh 1 increment and only budgeted Gh7.50 for the trip.
The driver was said to have grudgingly accepted the money from the passenger only for the passenger to beckon on a street vendor and purchase a local beverage known as ‘brukina’ to enjoy in the bus some minutes later.
This angered the driver who accused the passenger of lying to him about not having enough cash to complete his fare. He challenged the passenger who also responded angrily.
The matter escalated into a serious fight during which the driver had an upper hand.
He was filmed punching the face and head of the passenger as alarmed passengers cautioned him not to commit murder over Ghc 1.
