The police in Ogun State have launched a manhunt for a gang of kidnappers who abducted a lady, Hannah Opeyemi, in Abeokuta on Friday, November 4.
According to reports, the lady was in the company of a lawyer identified as Sanni Boladale, when the hoodlums who were lurking around the corner attacked them while the lawyer was about to drive into his compound at Soyoye, in the Abeokuta-North Local Government area of the state.
The lawyer was said to have managed to struggle with the kidnappers and escaped but the lady was not lucky as they overpowered her and whisked her away to an unknown destination.
Soyoye, which has a road linking Ayetoro to Isaga, Ibara-Orile and Sokoto, has become notorious as kidnappers have turned the area to their operational base. Within the last one year, residents, including the son of a renowned medical doctor, a retired lecturer, a policewoman, a nurse, a medical doctor and many travellers, have been kidnapped and released after ransoms were paid.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said efforts were being made to apprehend the abductors and rescue the victim unhurt.
