Lady alleges police asked her and her friends to undress during stop and search in Lagos
A Nigerian lady has accused some men of the Lagos State police command of asking herself and two of her female friends to pull their clothes during a stop and search exercise last night, October 24.
In a tweet directed at the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the lady with the handle @meetdeda said she and her friends did not argue with the male officers because it happened on a lonely road.
She said she did not bother to get the names of the officers via their name tags as she just wanted them to leave the place as soon as possible. She added that the incident happened under the bridge that leads to Bonny cantonment.
She tweeted: Good morning @BenHundeyin does stop and search include your men telling women to pull their clothes ???
We didn’t argue, we didn’t fight, heck we didn’t even frown. In the night, in a lonely place your guys searched I and my friend(two ladies) for over 20 mins. Idk what they were looking for but they made us pull our clothes. Is that a thing too now ??? They didn’t even have any female officer present. Why did we have to pull our clothes ??? Is that part of stop and search routine???
@G_Samito asked the lady: “Did you by chance get their names? If you did, I’m sure they’ll face the consequences. Or at least the area, the time, the vehicle number.. or anything to point to them
She responded: “No I didn’t Ben, they were under that bridge, they are always there.
@Glassbaby3 asked the lady: “Fr? Like stripped you guys?”
She responded: “And it was just bikini we had underneath
“We couldn’t even say anything. Cos it’s a dark and lonely place. They had a white bus in front and cars were not really passing. I just started texting my brother and giving him details of where we were. I’m glad it wasn’t more than that
