A man who is allegedly protesting increasing hardship in Ghana has been electrocuted after he climbed a high-voltage transmission line pylon.
The incident happened at Kasoa Galilea, located after the Kasoa toll booth on the way from Weija to Kasoa in the Ga South District of Greater Accra.
In a viral video, the man is seen quickly climbing the high-tension pole as bystanders made many pleas in an attempt to get him down.
A vehicle of the Ghana Police Service can be seen, creating the impression that the police officers were on the scene to help get the man off the pole before he endangered his life even more.
An onlooker, with a Nigerian accent, can be heard running commentary in the background of the video, saying that a Ghanaian man has climbed the pole because of the hardship in the country.
The man on the pole moves around briefly on the insulated part of the pylon. Then, he steps on the live tension and is instantly electrocuted.
Reports indicated that the body has since been conveyed to the morgue.
