Lady beaten, robbed of life savings in Victoria Island-bound private cab

Olamide’s DP on Twitter

A lady has taken to Twitter to call for help to track a bunch of men who beat and robbed her of her life savings when she boarded a private cab heading to Victoria Island (VI), Lagos in September.

According to Olamide, she was going to her office in VI around 6 am and hopped into a private car calling passengers going to VI, at Ojota Old Toll Gate.

According to her, it turned out to be a ‘one chance’ gang. They beat her and collected all the valuables on her, including her ATM cards and were able to withdraw all her life savings of over N900,000.

She said she reported the incident at Alausa and Ikoyi police stations but has not heard anything from the police ever since, even though she included the details of the accounts her money was transferred to.

She called on the Lagos Police Command spokesman, Ben Hundeyin to come to her aid.

She wrote: “PLEASE Help. I was robbed of all my life savings! I am really distraught as I write this.  On the 30th of September, 2022, I boarded a private car from Tollgate Ikosi Ketu going to Work Victoria Island at 6:00 AM. Little did I know that I (had) entered into the trap of one-chance.

“Nigeria happened to me. I was beaten. They made away with my life savings – all 910,000 of it, my iPhone XR, N4,300 cash, earrings, wristwatch, and Oraimo EarPods.

“The 910,000 was withdrawn from a different POS, N305, 400 from one POS belonging to T_Tommy_Global Link; another 100,000 was withdrawn twice from a POS with the name T_Frankem_Ventures; another N303,606 was withdrawn from a POS with the name Surebank_Justwite, and finally N101,500 withdrawn from a POS with the name Fashveego Venture, all totalling N910,506.

“Those Robbers put Aboliki inside my eyes when they dropped me at Maruwa Gardens Alausa.

“I have been to the police at ALAUSA and Ikoyi, and wrote a statement, but there has not been much help from these quarters. I am traumatised, helpless, and do not know what to do.

“Where do I start from? It took me years to save that much, and to see it wiped all at one go! Please come to my aid. Can these names on the POS be tracked? Can I get my money back? Please help!”

It appears those robbers have been operating on that route for long because several others came on the thread to say they were robbed in a similar fashion around the same location.
