Local politician becomes paralysed a day to chairmanship screening in Ghana
Family accuses opponents of spiritual attack
An aspiring Constituency Chairman for the National Democratic Congress in Ghana became paralyzed a day before appearing before a vetting Committee in his constituency.
According to Kasapafmonline.com, the aspirant, Vicent Koomsom, was preparing for his screening in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency in the Central Region the next day when he drove to a location and suddenly discovered he could not come out of his car by himself.
He was eventually helped to a hospital from where he landed in a wheelchair. The details of what transpired at the hospital are not known, but his family are attributing the incident to spiritual orchestration to thwart his dreams because he looked strong to clinch the seat.
He was said to have demonstrated no sign of ill health prior to the paralysis and had driven himself to where the incident happened.
It was gathered that Vicent Koomsom still managed to attend the screening in a wheelchair but was disqualified from the chairmanship race for undisclosed reasons.
His appeal to the Regional Vetting Committee also failed as his disqualification was upheld.
Although the screening committee failed to openly disclose their reason for disqualifying Koomsoon, it was speculated that it might be in connection with his present physical incapacitation.
His supporters described his disqualification as unfair as he had helped the party in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency and deserved to lead the party to wrestle power in the 2024 general election.
The candidate is said to have filed another appeal that is yet to be decided.
