LASTMA trends after officer was filmed harassing passenger for ‘looking Yahoo boy’

‘LASTMA’ is currently trending on Twitter as people discuss the incident of an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority harassing a passenger identified as Ibrahim Koletowo for looking like a Yahoo boy (Fraudster).

Koletowo uploaded a number of clips from the incident and claimed that the official, with the name tag, Bakare G, insisted that he could not board a vehicle at Iyana Oworo because he was a fraudster.

He claimed that he disembarked from a vehicle after the LASTMA official told the driver he would be in trouble if he carried Koletowo.

He claimed he started filming when he wanted to enter another vehicle and he threatened that driver too.

Bakare was seen in the clip also filming the scene. He refused to deny or counter the allegation being made by Koletowo in the video.

Instead, he could be heard telling the driver of the commercial vehicle to drop Ibrahim Koletowo from his van.

“Na yahoo boy you be, driver off that engine,” Bakare was heard saying.

Sharing the video on Twitter, Ibrahim said, “This morning on my way to work, at Berger-Iyana Oworo, a LASTMA officer (mr bakare), accused me of being a Yahoo boy because I dressed the way I can, I entered the first bus he said he will arrest the driver if he take me to my destination, he did the same to the second driver.”

Nigerians waded in on Twitter, querying the right of the LASTMA official to criticize or harass anyone over his manner of dressing.

Some also condemned the passenger for his use of rude language in the recording.
