Remi Tinubu’s pastoral credentials questioned after video of her threatening Igbos with deities surfaces online (Video)

Some Twitter users are questioning the pastoral qualifications of Remi Tinubu, the wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu after a video of her threatening to invoke Lagos deities against Igbos who refuse to learn Yoruba or marry a Yoruba surfaced online.

In the clip currently trending online, Remi Tinubu can be heard saying in Yoruba that the Lagos deities would be invoked to chase away the Igbos who refuse to learn the Yoruba language. She also added: “We will inherit the belongings of any Igbos who refuse to marry a Yoruba person”.

The video appears old but has been dug out now that her husband is gunning for the presidency of the country.

It does appear the wife of the APC candidate was joking as those she was addressing were laughing, but some tweeps believe her utterances were an indication of her mindset.

The video was shared and transcribed by one @Emmaikumeh on Twitter.

He wrote his interpretation of what Tinubu was saying as follows: “We will invoke Lagos deities to chase away the Igbos who refused to learn our language. Those that insisted not to marry the Yorubas, we will inherit their belongings.”

He then passed his comment as follows: “The hate that Remi Tinubu has for the igbos is beyond words. This is so shameful”.

In reaction, many tweeps pointed out that the lawmaker was obviously only joking, especially as the ‘Igbo’ person being addressed was laughing together with others there. However, some argued that the jest was not befitting of a pastor and was of poor taste.
