Chaos again on the Long Bridge after armed men attacked motorists (Video)

There was chaos on the Long Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway again this morning, August 10, after armed men attacked motorists in the early morning traffic snarl occasioned by the narrowing down of the highway for rehabilitation by Julius Berger.

Eye-witnesses said the incident happened around 6:10 am on the Lagos-bound part of the bridge.

A video of the incident showed vehicles facing various directions as people abandoned their cars and ran for safety. Some motorists who attempted to make a u-turn were faced by other motorists heading to Lagos.

The witness who recorded the scene lamented the insecurity in Nigeria and claimed that people have been killed, but this cannot be independently confirmed and his clip does not corroborate that.

It would be recalled that armed men stormed the Long Bridge also on Tuesday, August 9, robbing many motorists, and according to one witness, herded some people into the bush.

The Ogun State police command later said nobody was kidnapped on the Long Bridge on Tuesday. The command failed to acknowledge that there was any incident at all at the location, but stated that the police commissioner had ordered the beefing up of security on the bridge on account of the ongoing rehabilitation work on the bridge.
