Police officer caught on camera flogging man repeatedly with machete meets with IGP, to face trial

The police officer caught on camera assaulting a yet-to-be-identified man with the flat side of a machete has been summoned to Abuja.

He met with the Inspector General of Police who ordered that he be made to face trial.

A video of the police officer, PC Okoi Liyomo, assaulting his victim in Ekori community of Cross Rivers state went viral a few days ago.

CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the state police command, had promised that the officer would be identified and invited to Abuja.

In an update shared on his Twitter handle last night, Adejobi said the officer met with the IGP on Thursday, August 4. He said the police boss had ordered that the officer be made to face trial.
