Why my daughter-in-law roasted my son – Bolutife’s mother

Mrs Boladale Bamidele, the mother of Bolutife, a Cairo-based man burnt to death by his wife, Ifeoluwa, in Koka, Osun state, has offered an explanation as to what she believed made her daughter-in-law set her son ablaze.

It would be recalled that Ifeoluwa hit the headlines after she set her husband ablaze in their Koka home, Ibokun, Osun State on Sunday, July 17, after accusing him of infidelity.

The husband was burnt badly as he could not immediately get out of the house. Neighbours had the burglary-proof iron protection on the windows to contend with as they tried to save him.

He was ultimately brought out of the burning house with massive burns all over his body.

He was rushed to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, but he died later in the hospital.

Police launched a manhunt for Ifeoluwa, and tracked her down, but it was too late as she had ingested a poisonous substance. She died last Thursday at the hospital they took her to.

Speaking to newsmen on Saturday about the sad incident, the grieving mother of the late Bolutife, said her daughter-in-law’s major problem was jealousy.

Apart from that, she said Ifeoluwa was a decent girl.

According to her, Ifeoluwa was fond of checking through her husband’s phone.

She disclosed that before the son married Ifeoluwa last September, some family members opposed the marriage, but Bolutife insisted that she was the one he wanted to marry.

“Apart from her being a jealous type, she was decent as a lady. She was not adulterous. She was able to last that long in our house because she was not involved in indecent acts as a young lady but she used to check through her husband’s phone,” she said.

“Whenever she did that after she observed that he was chatting with anyone, even if the person was Bolutife’s elder in the family, she would become jealous.

“That was her only flaw and I used to talk to her to desist from such acts. Some members of the family opposed Bolutife having her as a wife but my son insisted that she was the one he liked.”
