The All Progressives Congress begins the screening of its presidential aspirants today with a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, slated as one of the first set of 23 aspirants to be screened.
The former Lagos State governor is listed as No. 10.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan is not on the list. That puts paid to the speculation that he was being invited as a consensus candidate.
The campaign for Jonathan has been slammed as an insult to the founders and members of the APC, seven years after the party ousted Jonathan and the PDP in the 2015 election.
The rumours of Jonathan contesting the APC ticket began after a so-called northern coalition bought the APC presidential expression of interest and nomination forms for him.
Despite the former president denying interest, the rumour persisted and was given another life by fables he would be fielded as a consensus candidate.
Below are the names of the presidential hopefuls for screening as listed by APC.
