The Igbajo community in Osun State has established the largest community green park in the state. The Park is named after Chief Mrs. Oyewole, the matriarch of the Oyewole dynasty in Igbajoland.
In consideration of her selfless contributions to the development of the Igbajo community for over three decades, the Igbajo Development Association (IDA) on behalf of Owa-In-Council and all sons and daughters of Igbajoland, named the green park aborting the Igbajo Comprehensive Health Center after Chief Mrs. Yetunde Oyewole.
At the Park’s naming ceremony held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, during the 33rd Igbajo Day Celebration, Sola Fanawopo, the President of the Igbajo Development Association promised that the body will continue to work with the Oyewole family to make the park inviting to adventurers in Nigeria and at the World at large.
While unveiling the park’s signpost, Asiwaju Adegboyega Awomolo SAN, informed the Oyewole dynasty that the Igbajo community-appreciated Chief Mrs. Oyewole’s sacrifices to the growth and development of Igbajoland. “I am particularly happy that we are honouring mama while she is still alive. It is heartwarming that our community is adopting a new culture of appreciating our legends while alive,” he declared.
The Asiwaju of Igbajoland promised to sponsor the construction of an access footway into the park. “We must plant more trees, build walkways and other recreation amenities in the park,” he enthused.
Also present at the inauguration of the park are traditional chiefs led by Chief Ajibodu, the Obaala Iloro of Igbajoland, Prince Kunle Famoodun, and Arc. Dayo Adegbite, the Chairman of Igbajo United Football Club, Chief Mrs. Funmilayo Awomolo SAN, Mr. Olugbenle Adekoyejo, General Secretary, IDA, Mrs. Motunrayo Oso-Laditan, and Igbajo Women League led by Princess Oladunni Comfort Fanawopo.
