The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disclosed that it has not arrested Ebelechukwu Obiano, the wife of the former governor of Anambra State.
Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, described as untrue a report by a section of the media that the former Anambra first lady was arrested.
“We do not have her in our custody”, Uwujaren told P.M. News on Thursday night.
Ebelechukwu recently picked the APGA nomination form to contest the Anambra North senate seat.
Her husband was arrested at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos, as he was preparing to board a flight to Houston, the United States, hours after handing over to his successor, Soludo.
He was subsequently moved to Abuja the following day and quizzed over alleged misappropriation of public funds, including, N5 billion Sure-P and N37 billion security vote which was withdrawn in cash.
