Unknown gunmen stormed the venue of voters’ registration in Nkwo Ihitte market in Imo State, killing one adhoc staff member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
One of the staff is still unaccounted for.
A video obtained by Microsecondnews (see below) shows the armed men up to about 12 holding several people ransom.
Several people can be seen lying on the ground, some with children, while the gunmen keep shouting that there will be no election and that the authorities should see their action as the last warning.
They appear to shoot one person dead in the video. Information emerged after they left that it was one of the INEC Adhoc Staff registering members of the community for the 2023 general elections.
