An operational vehicle of the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) was spotted with a cracked windscreen on Wednesday as the officers went on a raid at New Garage, Berger, Lagos.
Among other duties, the VIS is saddled with ensuring that the vehicles on the road are road-worthy and do not constitute a danger to the vehicle owners and other road users.
A cracked windscreen is a major violation that attracts immediate impoundment of the vehicle until the violation is fixed and a fine of N30,000, aside from other costs.
However, unknown to those arrested on April 6 at Berger, the operational vehicle that brought the VIS officers to the location was guilty of windscreen violation.
Close scrutiny of the vehicle’s windscreen revealed that it had multiple cracks. See below.
