File: Gunmen

Two security men working for Joseph’s Cathedral Church in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State lost their lives when unknown gunmen invaded the area and spayed bullets.

Daily Trust reported that they were killed for attending a prayer session organised by the state Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo at the church during Monday’s sit-at-home order.

The incident occurred a few hours after the prayer session. The state police command spokesman, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu however stated that only one person was killed.

He said the hoodlums invaded the area around 10.30 pm on Monday, April 4, shooting non-stop along the road close to Aguata LGA Secretariat before the bullet hit one of the Church security men.

No arrest has been made but the command has deployed more forces to the area.

An eyewitness however insisted two people, and not one person, were killed.

The eyewitnesses added that the gunmen invaded the area without any challenge from anywhere.
