Images of branded campaign vehicles of Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), have surfaced online.
It has been touted that the CBN governor is interested in running for president under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.
Some groups have also been agitating for him to declare his interest in the highest post in the land.
However, Emefiele has not openly shown interest in running for president. Neither has he shown open support for those promoting him as a presidential candidate.
Appointed in 2014, Emefiele, who hails from Delta State, was reappointed in 2019 for the second term of five years by President Muhammadu Buhari. The second tenure of the Delta-born economist will lapse in 2024.
Were he to formally declare his interest, he would be contending with the national leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi and Senator Orji Kalu among others.
