Union officials chase ‘okada’ rider to death over N600 at Aseese, Ogun State

A 22-year-old motorcycle rider, Nura Kazeem, has been crushed to death at the Aseese, Ogun State end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while running away from union levy collectors.

The deceased was said to have been accosted for his daily N600 fee for which he was to be issued a ticket.

But not willing to pay the sum, he was said to have fled, with the motorcycle union levy collectors hot on his heels.

Unfortunately, he reportedly ran blindly into an oncoming commercial bus, which crushed him.

Kazeem was said to be preparing to travel to his hometown in the North with his brothers when he was approached by one of the union members, identified simply as Ayomo, about the purchase of the daily ticket.

It was gathered that the victim said was not going to pay for daily ticket on the grounds that he was not working and was preparing to travel.

Ayomo and some other officials of the union were allegedly pursuing him when he rammed into a white Mazda bus and died on the spot.

Efforts are ongoing to pacify the Hausa community in the area who are not happy at the fate of Kazeem.
