Fuel scarcity bites harder, Ibadan residents scoop fuel from fallen tanker

The fuel shortage across the country is getting worse as black marketers continued to cash in on the situation.

Very long fuel queues can be seen all over Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre, Lagos on Tuesday.

A motorist told Microsecondnews that she had to buy 10 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise known as petrol, for N7000 in order to get back home.

“Otherwise, I would have been stranded in Victoria Island. My driver had spent the whole day at a filling station near the Lekki toll gate but could not buy. The station stopped selling at 6pm when it was almost his turn after he had queued for hours,” she said.

In Ibadan, the situation is the same, traffic snarls worsened the hardship encountered by motorists as queues of vehicles waiting for fuel obstructed the free flow of traffic in many locations.

Residents of Oremeji area of the city considered themselves lucky when a fuel-laden tanker rolled over spilling its content on the road.

Many of the residents rushed there with various containers to scoop part of the spilt fuel.

One Femi Salako shared a photo of the incident on Tuesday.

There is no idea when the fuel situation will improve across the country as the NNPC keeps maintaining that there is enough supply of fuel in the country.
