The Ministry of Finance building in Abuja’s Central Area has been gutted by fire.
The incident happened on Tuesday morning and drew the attention of men of the Fire Service.
Eyewitnesses said that the fire was caused by an explosion of expired inverter batteries in the basement of the Minister’s building.
It was learnt that there was no casualty. Officials said there was no major damage to the building as security officers on the premises promptly put out the fire.
One of the officials described the incident as “a minor fire incident.”
Eyewitnesses said that fire extinguishers strategically located on the premises were used to successfully douse the fire, even before the arrival of the Fire Service men.
