Teacher removed for browsing sex toys during class lecture

A Long Island substitute teacher was fired after students captured her on video browsing sex toys online during class.

A video obtained by The Post shows a teacher at Valley Stream South High School sitting at her desk behind a computer, while a projector screen at the front of the class shows a series of sex toys on what appears to be an online store.

The video was shot from a student’s desk. Students can be heard muffling laughs, and one mutters, “Oh my God.”

Meanwhile, the lecture, about Garett Morgan, inventor of the traffic light, continues to play unabated. It is not clear whether the teacher knew what was going on.

In an email to parents of the Valley Stream high school, Maureen Henry said that students in the class were given the opportunity to speak to the school’s guidance counsellor to discuss their concerns.

He wrote: “I am dismayed by the action taken by this substitute teacher, but can assure you that I and the district have taken this matter very seriously and action has been taken.

“Please know that all students in that class were given an opportunity to speak with their guidance counsellor today to discuss their concerns.”

A spokesperson for the school district said on Wednesday, February 2, that the teacher has been removed from the district’s roster and will not be teaching at any of the district’s schools.
